Spans
and Snops
("Old Sturbridge Village
Kids", Fall 2001)
The
first player shoots his marble; the second then tries to strike (or "snop")
the first marble or to shoot his own marble to within a "span" of it
(the distance equal to the diameter of the marble). If the second player
misses his target or doesn't fire "within the span," the first
player gets to shoot at the second player's marble-and so on until a snop or a
span is made. Whenever a marble is snopped or spanned, it is taken and the
game begins again, started by the winner of the first game.
