This tiny commercial building was built
in the town of Tuckahoe in the early
19th century. In the 20th century it was
moved to Beesley's Point on Great Egg
Harbor, where it is owned by the Speck
family . It is typical of the tiny
commercial buildings built throughout
the county in the 1900's. For a tiny
building it boasts a wealth of
architectural details. The half-height
windows on the side wall, semi-circular
window in the front gable and dental
(tooth-like) moldings under the eaves
are all characteristic of the Greek
Revival style, popular from about 1825
until the Civil War. The scalloped
border to the front porch, however, is a
Victorian feature, dating to the late
1900's. This building was also
dismantled and moved to the Village in
pieces (See 'How it was done')
