Notes found in a ledger from Randall
Marshall's store in Marshallville show a
credit to John Clark on August 23, 1826:
"by your bill for building school
house, etc. $69.37." This one-room
schoolhouse was originally located on
the lane which separated the properties
of Thomas Marshall and his sister Mary
Seeley. About 1900 it was moved to the
Godfrey farm nearby. The interior walls
of this wood frame structure are coated
with a crushed shell plaster. This gives
them a natural white color, which was
popular at the time the building was
erected. |
