The Dennisville Inn

Thomas Henderson built this charming center hall house in the late 1700's, and it served as a center for town meetings, social gatherings and a resting place for stagecoach travelers from Philadelphia to Cape May. In the middle of the 19th century, it belonged to the Wells family. According to the 1860 census Jacob Wells was a hotel keeper, and he lived in the building with his wife Hannah, four children and a servant, Mary Stokely. In the 20th century, it served as a storage area for used car parts. When it was donated to the Village by Mr. & Mrs. Carl Gratz, a rear addition was taken off. In order to bring it to Historic Cold Spring Village, the upper and lower floors were separated and moved individually.
