The David Taylor Shop |
|
This shop represents a typical early
nineteenth century from this area. It is
built around a timber framework that has
been mortised and pegged together, and
then covered with clapboard. The side
porch was added to the building when it
was brought to Historic Cold Spring
Village. David Taylor was a cobbler. He
married Susanna Williams (born 1777),
and they had three children, Whitefield,
Thankful and Hammah. Whitefield's son,
David, was also a cobbler, as was his
son Thomas. |
